SoundCloud Philippines just turned one year last May 10, 2014. As a part of the celebration, a summer getaway was held in Sariaya Quezon last May 17-18 and sadly, I was not able to come. So  instead of blogging about my experience there... which is obviously impossible, I'll just re-repost here some facts and trivia about #SCPhils.

SOME FACTS AND TRIVIA:

1.) Official SoundCloud Philippines (#SCPhils) was formerly called SoundCloud Chillout and was founded last May 10th 2013. Soundcloud is an application in smart phones where one can upload their own music and gain listeners. It's like Instagram but instead of photos, you upload songs either covers or original
compositions.

2.) Its Founder is an Alumnus of University of Santo Tomas College of Nursing and is a Registered Nurse in the UK. The group has a total of 10 Admins/Managers and all of them are Filipinos. The youngest Admin, Jennica Chan, is a student taking BS Finance at De La Salle University.

3.) #SCPhils started with less than 20 members on its first day. It is initially a SECRET group turned CLOSED and was created for avid soundclouders to meet their singing idols in soundcloud through facebook. Later on, it became an exclusive support group for aspiring singers and musicians in soundcloud. To be a member, you should have an active soundcloud account with your songs in it. One has to be of Filipino ancestry and some exemptions are given to foreigner who is an avid soundclouder who loves listening to Filipino Soundcloud artists. Admins approve members based on their talent and passion in music and we aim to be an active community of singers and musicians.

4.) The group got featured in The Filipino Channel last December 2013 for "One By One", a song composed by one of its Admins, Ms. Paola Lozare for the victims of Typhoon Yolanda. A Charity concert was held and the group managed to raise PHP 20,000 that was donated to Philippine Red Cross Manila.

5.) One of its Admins, Jerome Cleofas, composed the viral song "Paki-Explain, Labyu" which was inspired by "Ina" Michael V of Bubble gang and was featured in Jessica Soho. The song gained more than 80k hits in youtube (http://youtu.be/tOpjirAJ5IU) and more than 22k hits in SoundCloud (http://soundcloud.com/jerome-cleofas/paki-explain-labyu-original).

6.) One of its Admins, Christian Aron Garcia was featured last April 1st in NET 25 "Letters and Music" for his original song "Bahala na si Batman". An MTV of the song was made by Open Heaven studio and Shadiel Chan. Feel free to check out the video:
